Applied Research Topic

Using ICESat-2 data to improve winter mass balance estimates and short/midterm melt seasons forecasting for hydro power operations in Iceland

Potential Applications

Efficient resource usage for reservoir flows

Abstract

We aim at using ICESat-2 data in conjunction with in situ automatic weather station data and bi-annual mass balance to observe short term (days/weeks/months) changes in surface elevation which can then be related to stream runoff.
